Facets — Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-09-22
Facets derives a Chart from your birth details and writes you a Portrait. This policy says what happens to the details you give it.
The short version
Everything you give Facets stays on your device, and Facets never sends it anywhere. Your name, your birth details, your Chart, your Portrait and your check-ins are written to one file on your phone and are not uploaded, shared or sold.
The app makes no network request at all unless you choose to buy the Portrait. If you do, the app talks to the App Store or Google Play to take the payment and to remember that you paid — and your birth details are not part of that. Buying the Portrait says exactly what is sent. If you never buy, Facets never connects to anything, and there is nothing to sign in to.
That is a statement about what this app does rather than a promise about your device: what your phone's own backup does with the file is covered under Device backups below.
What Facets stores
All of it lives in one SQLite database file, facets.db, in the app's private storage on your
device.
What you type in:
- Your name, as you typed it. Nothing is derived from it; it is how the app addresses you.
- Your birth date — year, month and day.
- Your birth time, either as a clock time or as one of the offered time windows.
- Your birthplace, as the place name, region and country you picked, together with that place's identifier in the public GeoNames list that ships with the app, the coordinates that list gives it, and the time-zone rules the app resolved for it — plus whether you confirmed that zone or the app inferred it.
Facets does not ask for your gender, your email address, your phone number, or anything else.
What Facets works out from that and keeps:
- Your Chart, derived on your device from your birth details.
- Your Portrait — the plan behind it, the text of each chapter you have read, and one previous version kept so a rebuilt Portrait can be undone.
- Any older readings from previous versions of the app, alongside the version markers that say which release produced each one.
- Your Energy check-ins, if you answer them: one answer per calendar day, the moment you answered, and the day's own chart position.
If you buy the Portrait, one more thing is kept, and it is kept outside that database: a record that you hold the unlock, so the app can open your Chapters while you are offline. It says that a purchase exists. It is not attached to anything in the list above.
What Facets does not do
- No transmission of anything personal. Your birth details, your Chart, your Portrait and your check-ins never leave the device — including when you buy.
- No account unless you buy. There is nothing to register, and the app never asks who you are in order to show you a Portrait. Signing in is asked for at the moment of purchase and nowhere else.
- No analytics. No usage tracking, no event logging, no measurement service of any kind.
- No crash reporting. Facets ships with no crash reporting service, which is a deliberate choice: it means we see nothing about your device, and it means we are relying on you to tell us when something breaks.
- No advertising. No ads, no advertising identifier, no profiling.
- No permissions. Facets asks your operating system for nothing — not your location, not your contacts, not your camera, not notifications. Your birthplace is a list you search, not a place the app looks up.
Buying the Portrait
Facets sells one thing: a one-time unlock of the seven paid Chapters of your Portrait. The Portrait preview, the daily card and the Introduction Chapter are free forever and need no payment, no account and no connection.
Buying is the only thing in Facets that uses the network, and it happens only when you tap Buy, Sign in or Restore purchases. There is no background check, no scheduled call, and nothing that phones home while you read.
When you buy, this is what goes where:
- To Apple or Google — you sign in with your existing Apple or Google account and they take the payment. Facets never sees your card details, your billing address or your payment method. What we get back is the answer to one question: whether this account has bought the unlock.
- To RevenueCat, the service that records purchases for us — the purchase event, the identifier the store gives that transaction, and an identifier for your app installation. It exists so that Restore purchases works on your next phone.
What is never sent, to anyone, at any point in that path: your name, your birth date, your birth time, your birthplace, your Chart, your Portrait and your check-ins. The purchase path carries a receipt and a store account. It does not carry you.
Offline. Once you have bought, the unlock is remembered on the device and your Chapters open with no connection at all. If the app cannot check a purchase — a new phone with no signal — it says so and offers Restore purchases, rather than telling you that you have not paid.
Restore purchases is in Settings and works on any device signed in to the same store account.
Who else is involved
Only for people who buy. Nobody else's device contacts any of them.
| Who | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Apple / Google | Your store account and the payment, under their own privacy policies | They process every purchase made in an app on their platform; there is no alternative |
| RevenueCat | The purchase event and an identifier for your app installation | It records that the unlock exists so it can be restored on another device |
None of them receives your birth details, your Chart or your Portrait. Facets has no servers of its own, and there is no fourth party.
Device backups
Facets does not back your data up, and we receive nothing from any backup. But your phone may: iOS includes app data in iCloud and computer backups, and Android may include it in its own backup to your Google account, both under settings that belong to you rather than to us.
If that copy is not something you want, turn backups off for Facets in your device's settings. The copy is held by Apple or Google under their terms, not ours, and we have no access to it.
Deleting what Facets has
- Delete everything, in Settings, erases all of it at once: your name, your birth details, your Chart, your Portrait, every saved reading and every check-in. It warns first, and it cannot be undone.
- Editing your birth details replaces what the old ones produced. The Chart, the Portrait and the readings derived from the old answer are removed rather than kept, because nothing should survive from an answer you withdrew. It is always free, however many times you do it.
- Delete account, if you bought, removes your Facets sign-in and your local data together and returns the app to its free Chapters. It cannot delete your purchase, and does not pretend to: the receipt belongs to your Apple or Google account. Sign in again or tap Restore purchases and the unlock comes back — your Portrait is then built fresh, because the old one is gone. Refunds are granted by Apple and Google, not by us; their own pages are linked from that screen.
- Uninstalling Facets removes the database with it.
There is nothing to ask us to delete, because we never had it. A request to delete your data is the Delete everything button, and it takes effect immediately.
If you would rather ask than tap, the same request can be made from the web at https://facets.galileolab.id/delete-account, or by writing to support@galileolab.id.
Children
Facets is not directed at children and asks for no age. It stores no age, and there is nothing in it that could work out how old you are.
If this changes
The claim in this policy depends on a condition, and it is written down where engineers will meet it: the app makes no network call other than the purchase path described above, and ADR-0049 requires that anything which changes that is either offered to you as a choice with its own explanation, or changes what the app claims. This policy and both store forms are updated in that same change.
The effective date at the top of this page says when it was last true. If you have already installed Facets, a version of this policy from a later release does not change what the copy on your device did with your details.
